Skincare for the Summer

Summer Skincare Essentials

Having healthy, glowy skin is important to me.   If my skin can look radiant without using a highlighter then I’m winning in life.   For the past two years, I’ve stopped wearing foundation and only use concealer to spot conceal.   And although my diet has played a role in clearing my skin, I have to give credit to the products I use.

When it comes to skincare, I stick to the basics.   Cleanse and moisturize twice a day and a face mask once a week.   I like to pamper myself with a clay masks since they are the best masks to absorb excess oil and unclog pores.   My current mask of the month is Origins Original Skin Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay.   The rose clay is gentle enough to cleanse your skin and soak up oil, all while leaving your skin baby soft.

During the summer, I need a cleanser that can wash all the sweat, SPF residue and other pollutants.   I use Dr. Bonner’s Castile Liquid Soap in peppermint to cleanse my face and body.   I absolutely love how this soap leaves my face squeaky clean and refreshed.   Not to mention that Dr. Bonner’s soaps are free of harsh chemicals and contain natural ingredients such as essential oils and olive oils.

Note to the consumer, Castile soap is concentrated.   It is recommended to dilute the soap with water before using it on your skin.   I don’t really dilute the soap.   I just make sure that my face is wet before I squirt 2 pumps of the soap and lather onto my skin.   The bottle is not very practical to use for everyday use, so I reused an empty hand soap bottle and filled it with Castile soap.   Not only does this make it easier to dispense the product, but you save money by controlling the amount of soap you pump versus pouring it into your hand and eyeballing the amount of soap you want.

Another great alternative product for those who have dry skin is Origins Checks and Balance Frothy Face Wash.   What’s great about this product is that it’s a cream cleanser, so it won’t dry out your skin.   After washing your face, you will feel a cooling minty freshness that makes this product feel even more luxurious.

These are just a few skincare products that I am obsessed with.   If you want to have a healthy glow and keep your skincare to a minimum this summer, skip foundation when you can, always wear sunblock, and treat yourself to a new face wash that makes you feel like you just left the spa.
